Vinyl Flooring Market Snapshot: Trends & Competitive Shifts

Lifeproof's dollar share of the vinyl flooring category at Home Depot and Lowe's climbed from 49.5% in April 2025 to 56.3% in June — a 6.8-point gain in a single quarter. The brand holds three of the top five best-selling SKUs, all waterproof click-lock vinyl tile priced between $57.91 and $58.26 per case. Every other major brand in the category lost share over the same period.

Lifeproof Owns the Top of the Shelf

Three of the top five SKUs belong to Lifeproof: Cashiers Oak at $58.26 (12.9% dollar share), Overlook Slate at $57.91 (12.3%), and Mountain Brook Marble at $58.11 (11.6%). Together those three SKUs account for over 36% of category dollars — more than any competing brand's total share.

All three Lifeproof SKUs sit within 35 cents of each other, offering different aesthetics at the same price. A homeowner choosing between oak, slate, and marble looks never leaves the brand.

Smartcore and Pergo Are Both Sliding

Smartcore dropped from 22.0% in April to 17.7% in June — a 4.3-point decline. Pergo fell from 13.7% to 11.6%. Both still hold top-five SKUs — Pergo's Rome Marble at $69.04 (12.3%) and Smartcore's Tivoli Travertine at $59.29 (8.5%) — but strong individual products were not enough to offset broad share loss. Pergo's top SKU carries the highest ASP in the top five, roughly $11 above the Lifeproof cluster, creating a visible price gap on the shelf.

The Category Is Consolidating Around One Brand

In April, Lifeproof held just under half the category. By June, well over half. Stainmaster sits at 5.5%, Duralux Performance at 6.7%, and everyone else in single digits.

Duralux Performance was the only brand besides Lifeproof to gain, rising from 5.2% to 6.7%. But at less than 7%, it remains a minor player. Vinyl flooring at Home Depot and Lowe's is increasingly a one-brand story.

Datavations tracks every SKU, every store, every sale across 11,936+ locations daily — the precision that catches a 6.8-point share swing in real time.

Smartcore dropped from 22.0% to 17.7% and Pergo fell from 13.7% to 11.6% between April and June 2025. Both still hold top-five SKUs but could not prevent broad share loss to Lifeproof.
