Deck Screws Market Snapshot: Q2 2025 Pricing & Assortment Analysis

The Pack-Size Playbook

Deckmate's top four SKUs are not four different products. They are the same screw in four configurations: a 1 lb. box at $10.66, a 5 lb. box at $29.97, a Torx-head variant at $29.97, and a 25 lb. bulk box at $106.43. Together they account for 16.1% of total category dollars.

A homeowner doing a small repair buys the 1 lb. box. A weekend deck project takes the 5 lb. A contractor buys 25 lbs. Deckmate captures the sale at every project size. The only non-Deckmate SKU in the top five is Deck Plus at $35.77 (2.4%).

The Category Is Remarkably Stable

Unlike most building materials categories where share moves 2 to 5 points per quarter, deck screws barely shifted. Deckmate held between 44.7% and 45.6% across the three-month period. Grip-Rite, the second-largest brand, moved less than a point — 19.2% to 18.7%. GRK Fasteners sat at roughly 10%. Camo held at 7.5%.

The top four brands — Deckmate, Grip-Rite, GRK Fasteners, and Camo — collectively hold over 80% of the category. Breaking into a shelf this locked requires format innovation or a retailer-driven assortment reset.

Trex Is the One Brand Moving

Trex grew from 4.9% to 5.6% — a composite decking brand expanding into fasteners. A brand that sells both the board and the screw captures more project spend and strengthens its position in both categories.

At 5.6%, Trex is still small. But in a category where nothing else moved, a 0.7-point gain stands out. Datavations tracks every SKU, every store, every sale across 11,936+ locations daily, catching the kind of cross-category brand expansion that shapes the next line review conversation.

Who leads the deck screw category at Home Depot and Lowe's?

Deckmate leads with 45.6% dollar share as of Q2 2025, holding four of the top five best-selling SKUs. All four are variations of the same screw in different pack sizes, from $10.66 to $106.43.

How competitive is the deck screw category?

The category is highly concentrated and stable. The top four brands — Deckmate (45.6%), Grip-Rite (18.7%), GRK Fasteners (9.9%), and Camo (7.5%) — hold over 80% of dollar share, and none moved more than a point in Q2 2025.

Is Trex selling deck screws?

Trex grew from 4.9% to 5.6% dollar share in deck screws through Q2 2025, expanding from its core composite decking business into fasteners. It was the only brand with meaningful share movement in the quarter.
