DAP controls 49.0% of the caulk category at Home Depot and Lowe's as of January 2025 and holds four of the top five best-selling SKUs. All four are 10.1 oz. tubes priced between $3.83 and $6.09 — a value-tier lineup that covers interior paint prep, exterior trim sealing, and general-purpose caulking. The only non-DAP product in the top five is GE's Advanced Silicone 2 at $10.80, more than double the price of DAP's leader.
DAP's top four SKUs span a tight range: Alex Fast Dry at $4.90 (6.0% dollar share), Alex Plus at $3.83 (2.6%), Dynaflex 230 at $6.09 (2.4%), and another Alex Fast Dry variant at $4.79 (2.4%). Each targets a slightly different job — fast-dry interior, silicone-enhanced flex, elastomeric exterior seal — but all sit at price points a homeowner grabs without deliberation. DAP wins by being the default tube in the cart across every project type.
GE holds roughly 30% share — 29.8% in November, rising to 30.5% in January. Its top SKU, an Advanced Silicone 2 at $10.80, is the highest-priced product in the top five and the only non-DAP entry.
At 30.5% versus DAP's 49.0%, the gap is nearly 19 points — and it widened slightly as DAP moved from 48.1% to 49.0% over the same period.
DAP and GE together hold roughly 79% of the category. The remaining 21% fragments across at least nine brands — OSI, Sashco, Mapei, Behr, Loctite, 3M, White Lightning, Flex Seal, Johns Manville — none above mid-single digits. White Lightning slipped from 6.7% to 5.3%, the most notable movement among smaller players.
Nothing moved dramatically — DAP gained less than a point, GE gained less than a point. The shelf is locked. Breaking in requires either a retailer-driven assortment reset or product innovation that creates a new sub-segment. Datavations tracks every SKU, every store, every sale across 11,936+ locations daily, revealing whether a locked category is truly stable or quietly shifting beneath the surface.
DAP leads with 49.0% dollar share as of January 2025, holding four of the top five best-selling SKUs. GE is second at 30.5%. Together they control roughly 79% of the category.
DAP Alex Fast Dry 10.1 oz. White Acrylic Latex Plus Silicone Caulk leads at 6.0% dollar share with an ASP of $4.90, outselling GE's second-ranked Advanced Silicone 2 at $10.80 by more than double.
The category is a stable duopoly. DAP (49.0%) and GE (30.5%) hold nearly 80% of dollar share, and neither moved more than a point in Q4 2024.
